I've always been a bit hesitant to rock the double denim look. I've seen (and loved!) it splashed all over the pages of fashion magazines and e-boutiques like Revolve Clothing but I've also long suspected that double denim only looks chic on teeny tiny models with toothpick thighs. Today I caved and decided to try it by throwing on my Sass chambray shirt (AKA: My new obsession as evidenced by the fact that I can't stop thinking of new ways to wear it!) with my Lee Supatube skinny jeans and my Tony Bianco nude platforms.
I've read that there are two key elements to working the denim-on-denim look. The first is to make sure that you don't go matchy-matchy: Pick two different denim washes. The looks that I've been most fond of have always featured a lighter wash on top and a darker wash on the bottom. The second rule is to keep accessories simple; double denim is enough of a statement without overburdening your outfit with rings, necklaces, and outrageous statement-making shoes. If you're looking to add colour to your outfit, do so with a simple necklace or bag.
To accessorize I slipped on my favourite vintage rings and the spike necklace that I recently bought from ASOS, along with my Portmans handbag.
I'm now thinking of all sorts of denim combinations, and I'd love to pair a chambray shirt with jeans and a beautiful red handbag - like, say, the one currently on my eBay watch list - or with beautifully frayed One Teaspoon shorts, an outrageously large tote and leather sandals for an effortless, beachy look.
So I have to ask: What's your opinion on the denim suit? And if you're a fan, how would you accessorize one?

I dont think I am 'brave' enough to wear denim on denim, but I really do wish for a denim shirt! haha
